Diane Mueller Photography
Experience Fayette County Texas
I love my job. Whether it’s capturing those tiny fingers and toes of a newborn, that sassy look of a two-year old or that loving look between a new husband and wife at a wedding, I LOVE my job My style is best described as classic, timeless and vibrant. You won't find any styled shoots displayed on my sight, just images from real sessions and weddings! Texas based, as a full time studio and location professional photographer, my business is in La Grange, TX. While centrally located to Austin, Houston, College Station and San Antonio, distance is not a limiting factor and many sessions and weddings have taken me all over including the Bahamas and Cabo San Lucas. What makes me unique? Lighting - I know that you go to great lengths choosing your wedding dress or other wardrobe for your sessions so I work with natural light AND artificial lighting to capture portraits that are vivid and sharp, recording all the detail that is so important to you. While expression can often trump technical quality, I feel that both are equally important in making lasting images that you will enjoy every day. There are often dim lighting conditions and other challenging scenarios at weddings and other portrait assignments but you can rest assured that you will receive excellent images in all situations. Many photographers market themselves as "natural light photographers", but what happens when they are faced with a dark living room or ceremony or reception sight? Experience - We all have to agree that weddings and portrait sessions can be stressful for all concerned. No matter what the day brings, hot or cold, rainy or sunny, or with less than cooperative subjects, you can relax knowing that I have worked in virtually every situation and possess the experience and professional expertise to capture your timeless images.

Hello Beautiful - Spa and Med Spa Services!
Experience Fayette County Texas
April Marie Krhovjak thought she wanted to be a nurse, but then as life would have it, things changed. She took a job in banking, and through the role, gained insight on what it takes to operate a successful business. When the "Aha" struck her that she was not meant to be in banking for the rest of her life she began to consider other options. A friend mentioned the esthetician industry to her, and the mom of 3 almost immediately knew this was the profession, and the value that she wanted to provide her community. April received her certification in only 2 years, and when her then boss decided to go out of business, she took the leap and purchased all of his equipment. Things began to align when a new, and perfect retail space was built in La Grange, and the Hello Beautiful brick and mortar space was opened in 2017. Working for other people in the industry, the business owner realized that if she ever started her own Med Spa - she would do it in a way that ensured her clients felt special. For this reason, her team will not book clients too close together. They intend to provide a relaxing, joyful experience.

Big State Coffee Roastery
Experience Fayette County Texas
In 2007 Rhonda Hill was going to help out at her family church’s annual “Kingdom Sale," Her husband John told her to bring him something home. So, Rhonda returned with a book titled “Coffee, a Guide to Buying, Brewing" authored by Ken Davis. She purchased it for $1.00. John read it cover to cover and realized they had an opportunity to source good quality green coffee beans in small quantities. To learn the process the couple began roasting coffee in a popcorn popper, and soon after, started sharing fresh roasted coffee with friends and family. Do to growing demand from family and friends, John and Rhonda purchased a small one pound commercial roaster and starting supplying coffee regularly to their close network and church. Not long after that we purchased a 10lb capacity Turkish Drum Roaster. In 2009, the entrepreneurs realized it was time for retail! They purchased a 10lb capacity Turkish Drum Roaster and leased a storefront building on the town square in La Grange. In 2016, Rhonda resigned from her job and they launched Big State Coffee House and Roastery - an all inclusive coffee experience. Since that time, their roastery has steadily grown. They offer a range of amazing products like hand-made pastries, soups, organic juices, and quiche. The team always strives to use organic ingredients, including a variety of healthy and vegetarian options. Throughout their journey, the couple says their favorite part has been "making lifelong local friends". They welcome you to stop by, enjoy a Bullet Proof coffee, soak in the collaborative ambiance that promotes local artists' work - and hopefully, meet some life long friends of your own. We meet new people every day, have made lifelong friends on this new journey of ours.

Experience local community - why you should shop local
Experience Fayette County Texas
To quote author and economist Michael H. Shuman, "Going local does not mean walling off the outside world. It means nurturing locally owned businesses which use local resources sustainably, employ local workers at decent wages and serve primarily local consumers. It means becoming more self sufficient and less dependent on imports. Control moves from the boardrooms of distant corporations and back into the community where it belongs.” In the age of Amazon, anything you want is just a click away. Many times when we click, we are prioritizing convenience over value. In our rural town, we sometimes crave more convenience, like a larger shopping center, or retail franchise, but that would detract from the uniqueness of small-town living. The truth is, we do not need a large production company to move to our county and save the day. We can utilize what we already have here, more often and in a more collaborative way. Just consider La Grange: So you are craving a Starbucks Frappe? Stop by Latte On The Square. Needing some new inspirational decor for your bedroom? Art Connections sells beautiful hand-made creations for artists around the world. Looking for a new dress for Saturday night? The Mustard Seed will be sure to impress. Cooking for a holiday party and need some support? Le Petite has gourmet cookery and even offers cooking classes! I am not asking anyone to stop buying online, or going on those fun shopping trips out of town. I am simply saying check what's here first, before purchasing from other areas. According to a national study done by Michigan State University, for every $100 spent locally, $73 stays in the local economy versus $43 when dollars are spent outside. These funds then allow business to purchase goods from other local service providers. The recirculation of funds continuous to grow our community's cash-cycle. It enables community development that will provide for more restaurants, more recreational activities and more. It keeps our community unique. Even more relevant, local businesses are the main source of funds for charitable causes. Have you ever fundraised for a local organization, or on behalf of your child? It wasn't Amazon or Best Buy that bought those girl scout cookies. It was your local business owner and community members. For these reasons and many more, we are developing a platform that will make shopping locally, easy and fun. This will increase entrepreneurship in our area, save tax dollars, and generate job creation. Join us in promoting local.

Feeding Honey Bees Sugar Water Can Save Your Hive!
Ross Creek Organic Farm
Honey Bees need nectar and pollen resources to survive. Nectar availability can disappear during the hot summer months, causing honey bee stress. To help honey bees stay healthy, mixing sugar water for bees is one of the first tasks most new beekeepers attempt. Feeding a one to one sugar water ratio will promote wax comb build up and brood rearing ( raising new bees). Feeding honey bee colonies can mean a reduction in stress and a big boost in development, but you need to do it right to avoid problems. This is a mixture of white granulated cane sugar and water. Only use white sugar when feeding your bees. Never use molasses or brown sugar as this will make your bees sick -- or dead. The recipe for sugar water: one to one by volume or by weight. An example is one cup of sugar with one cup of water or one pound of sugar with on pound of water. Feeding bees sugar water can help the colony survive the hot dry summer. But, you should not have to do it forever. Reach out to me with any bee culture questions! *** Remember establishing bee colonies on your land can save you thousands of dollars in annual taxes. Ross Creek offers a free Agriculture Evaluation to help you determine if raising bees is a good fit for you, and how much it will potentially save you! Ask a question to get started!

How Honey Bees Survive the Hot, Dry Texas Summers
Ross Creek Organic Farm
Honey Bees need to keep their brood nests an average of 94 degrees. When it's 100 degrees outside, it is too hot for the honey bee colonies and the bees must work extra hard to keep their hive cool. Also, during hot, dry weather, honey bees encourage their queen to stop laying so there isn't a large brood nest to manage. With a lack of nectar coming in, they also don't have the resources to raise new bees. First, it is critical to keep a water source near the honey bee colonies. If you have a pond or creek nearby, problem solved! In addition to cooling the bee hive with water, you might see bees covering the front of your hive body. This condition is called "bearding". Any extra bees leave the hive to allow for more air flow and to remove their body heat. *** Remember, if you own land between 5 - 20 acres, Ross Creek offers a Free Agriculture Evaluation! Honey Bees can save you thousands of tax dollars annually - let us help ! - The Ross Creek Farm Family

Establishing Bee Colonies Can Save You Money on Annual Taxes - Free Agriculture Evaluation
Ross Creek Organic Farm
Farmers and land owners can save thousands on annual property taxes by meeting Agriculture Exemption guidelines. Establishing honey bee colonies on your land, can help you meet those guidelines, and be a wonderful way to increase pollination and environmental impact on your property. Agricultural Evaluation- For properties between 5 and 20 acres there is an option to remain in Ag with beekeeping as your Ag use. Raising bees can save thousands of tax dollars annually. WHAT IS THE BACKGROUND AND LEGAL REQUIREMENTS FOR OPEN-SPACE TAX VALUATION FOR BEEKEEPING? In 2011, Texas legislators amended Tax Code Section 23.51(2) updating the 1-d-1 Open-Space Valuation law to include beekeeping as an Agricultural Use. To qualify for an Open-Space Valuation for Beekeeping, the legal requirements are as follows: • The land used for beekeeping must be between 5-20 acres. • The operation must produce a product with commercial value, though the law does not require commercial sale of products. However, any commercial activity (sale of honey or other related products) will bolster your application. • The property must be devoted principally to agricultural use for 5 years. Ross Creek Farm offers a free on-site evaluation for landowners interested in establishing honey bee colonies! Ask me a question to get started!
